Icmeler |
Icmeler is
the neighbouring resort to Marmaris which is delightfully
more sophisticated, with defined characteristics of its own. The
beach is a mixture of sand and shingle and stretches the length of
the bay, with watersports from windsurfing to jet skis available
and sensibly separated from swimmers in designated areas.
The view
from this beach is really very special, the islands periodically
rising high out of the cobalt blue waters of the warm Mediterranean,
breaking up the coastline with magnificent splendour.
A stroll along the promenade is an enjoyable way to see much of what is on offer
and watch the boats returning to the harbour.
There's no better
way to pass the time than sipping your favourite drink in one of
the beach cafés. Behind the beach the immediate roads are
full of bars, shops, restaurants and hotels and then the streets
have a more residential air about them, becoming quieter and prettier
with public gardens and play areas. We think that Icmeler is a wonderful
place for families and is easy for pushchairs and wheelchairs alike.
Try a stroll through the old village for something more traditionally
Turkish and the weekly market which runs on a Wednesday. A variety
of local transport systems make it easy to get around Icmeler and
its neighbouring resorts of Marmaris and Turunc. Icmeler is scenically
beautiful and well worth a visit. |
