We really like the Celay Hotel for its idyllic
position with a spectacular backdrop provided by
the Babadag mountain range. The name Celay
is a combination of the husband and wife team
who own and run the hotel, Celal and Ayten.
The couple have also lived in Europe which has
influenced the design, standards and style of the
rooms and the rest of the hotel is very spacious.
A 15-minute walk will take you
to the Ovacik Road by Jewel in the Crown's local office, where
a regular dolmus service is available.
Alternatively, the Celay operates a minibus
service (payable locally). The swimming pool is
one of the largest we have seen in Turkey with a
separate children's pool and pool bar. Children
also have their own play area. The hotel now has a fitness centre, steam room and jacuzzi. There is an
indoor and outdoor restaurant, TV lounge,
billiard table, darts, table tennis and a 24hr
reception with safety deposit boxes and fans
(both payable locally).
The twin-bedded rooms
are of an excellent standard with hairdryer, ensuite
shower & WC and a balcony or terrace
overlooking the pool. Some doubles are
available plus rooms that can take a 3rd bed.
Air-conditioning is available in two thirds of the
rooms so will be on request, subject to
availability and payable locally. Board is offered
on a Bed & Turkish Breakfast basis.
48 rooms on 3 floors.
