In a prime location fronting Samudra beach, the Uday Samudra is a popular choice and offers exceptional value. There are a few shops and shacks close by and the main centre of Kovalam (lighthouse beach) is just less than 2 km away, a short ride by rickshaw costing less than £1 if you drive a hard bargain! A new block has been added since last year. There are three swimming pools and a fantastic air-conditioned gym with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the pool with a range of state-of-the-art equipment, as well as a steam bath and sauna which are all available free of charge.

There is a choice of 4 restaurants and a bar and for a little pampering, the Ayurveda centre offers a range of massages and therapies. Safe deposit boxes are available at reception, free of charge and laundry service and a limited room service are also available. All three swimming pools are surrounded by sun terraces equipped with sun beds and two overlook the beach. There is evening entertainment ranging from a live band to cultural shows twice a week and during the day occasional activities such as cooking demonstrations are organised.

The airconditioned rooms all have satellite TV, fridge, ensuite, shower and WC and private balcony or terrace. Accommodation is offered on bed and breakfast basis and Christmas and New Year festive meals are also included.
