The Marinha Dourada is beautifully
situated on the edge of two small lakes with direct views of
the nearby salt marshes and paddy fields. Baga
Beach can be reached easily by the hotel's free
shuttle bus which runs hourly from 9am until early evening. A new bridge has been built so it is now only a 10 minute walk to the beach and by taxi it's less than 3 minutes. The hotel has a restaurant overlooking one of
the two swimming pools, the children's pool and
sunbathing area, and features live music at least
four times a week.
Pedal and rowing boats are
available during high season for hire on the
lake, and a small gym., jacuzzi, steam room,
beauty parlour, Ayurvedic massage, gift /
provisions shop and are available,
payable locally. The second swimming pool also
has its own sunbathing area with a superb view
of the lake. On a previous visit to the Marinha
Dourada we met Don Bacon, an ornithologist
from Doncaster, who told us that there were 90
species of birds within a mile of the hotel. If
you're a keen birdwatcher, this hotel will be ideal
for you.
